I’m not sure where I first heard the phrase, “Let go and let God” but I’m sure it was within the confines of my more religious aspects of spiritual growth in my past. It ranks up there with things in the vault that come out during particular times of trial and tribulation. Sort of like “The Serenity Prayer”or that one Bible verse you always here some reverend or priest careening off in some end of the world scene in a movie that starts with “Yeah, tho I walk through the valley of the shadow of death…” etc, etc, etc. (psalm 23:4). Don’t worry, we aren’t going there. Stick with me here.
For anyone who is simply breathing (consciously or unconsciously) it is clear to see that the world is in a tenuous place right now. I personally don’t watch the news as a regular rule of thumb. Reason being, it’s always bad. Okay… mostly always. However, since experiencing my own “awakenings” (yes, I needed more than just one apparently), and I quickly realized a few years ago that in order to grow into a place of higher vibration than that of the current world around me, I had to monitor what I allow IN in order to be more consciously aware and in control of what I put OUT.
Some call it the Law of Karmic Return. More recently, through the recent phenomenon known as The Secret more may knowingly refer to it as the Law of Attraction. For those in the more technical computer related fields, you may recognize it is the law of “Junk In = Junk Out”. Simply put, what you take in you typically put out and vice versa is the basic rule. You are what you eat… drink… watch… read… speak… you get the point.
But however you may refer to it, it’s very real whether you realize it, believe it or actively practice or not. Like the simple law of gravity, you don’t have know how or even IF it works at all. It just does either way. And if you are standing under a piano being hoisted two stories above your head, your best bet is to observe it from aside rather than from directly below… just in case.
I’ve been going through a lot of changes lately. “A lot” is really a bit of an understatement. For those of you who have been following me over the past year (excuse the summer hiatus), you will have a better sense of what I’m talking about. For those who know me on a more personal level, family and friends alike, you will have a greater sense. But what I’ve come to realize, is that even now I am still not completely clear on the full ramifications of the incredible things that have been occurring in my life, especially as of late. And that’s actually quite okay because it’s all very, very good… even in the not knowing. The hardest thing to do is truly the simplest act of “not doing”. Just letting go. Enter in, the art of allowing.
And I suppose therein lies the truth on a macro level scale as well. There’s no denying that mankind has been evolving at an exponential rate… physically, intellectually, and materially. That is obvious. Just on a base level, just look at where we’ve come in just the most recent hundred to two hundred years. From a culture of hunters, gatherers and farmers to being able to walk into a grocery or convenience store (some even 24 hours!) for a gallon of milk, loaf of bread or even a pint of ice cream.
From slavery not only being legal but proliferate to a time where in “owning” another human being as a piece of property would not be tolerated in just about every developed nation in the world. Although it still happens on some level or another in some places, I’m aware. From hand-written notes and letters via parcel post that could take days or even weeks to get to its intended recipient somewhere in the world to text messages and emails able to travel across the country and around the globe within literally seconds of hitting the “send” button.
I could go on and on, but I won’t. You’re an intelligent person. Right? Of course you are. So, then what? What is next? Oh sure, there’s more technology to be invented and embraced. God/Source/Universe has given us who have the will and tenacity to create full reign to do so. However, it’s obvious that as we have done so we haven’t done it responsibly.
It’s a bit like the Greek mythical story of Icarus flying too close to the sun subverting to his own pride (ego) and unwillingness (ego again) to ignore his father’s warnings that doing so would surely melt his wings and have have grave repercussions.
Overcome by the sublime feeling that flying gave him, Icarus soared through the sky joyfully, but in the process he came too close to the sun, which melted his wings. Icarus kept flapping his wings but soon realized that he had no feathers left and that he was only flapping his bare arms. And so, Icarus fell into the sea…” -Greek Mythology, Metamorphoses, Poems by Ovid
Thus, today humanity sits… well, flies really… on a precipice between the sea and the sun. And the advances in industry, technology and material wealth has many soaring intrepidly close to the sun. Our wings are beginning to melt but many still can’t see the warning signs.
Lately, I’ve been reading and hearing from just about everyone I run into ”on the streets” about the perilous state of the world we live in today. At the start of this writing, I’m sitting in a coffee house. A man walks up to the counter to order a cup of coffee. “Well, do you hear that the the world is coming to an end?” he opens as response to the question of “Hi, how are you and what can I get you today?” from the young barrista behind the counter.
The older customer laments the recent “crash” of the stock market. I think to myself, “Did the stock market crash today? I hadn’t heard.” I heard that it was in trouble. I heard that there there was about 450 points lost in a single day on Monday. But I also heard that it rebounded by another 150 points upwards yesterday. Did it crash completely today. I didn’t know. So, I looked it up on the Internet. Nope. No crash, but it sure doesn’t look pretty.
Along with $7.00 per gallon gas prices in some parts of the country, a immensely deflated (okay, burst) real estate bubble that is having its own ramifications on the mortgage and now broader finance industries (which came first really?) to a recent report that some chemical called BHP that apparently has been used for decades in our plastic and aluminum cans and may be the cause of the record number cases of heart disease and diabetes today. Hmmmm, imagine that. Sounds like the wings are surely melting as quickly as the polar ice caps.
It brings to mind a certain REM song… “It’s the end of the world as we know it… and I’ll be fine. I’ll be fine.” Another song on heard on the way home tonight was one by the Beetles, “Let it Be”…
And when the broken hearted people
Living in the world agree,
There will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is
Still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be
Let it be, let it be…
Who knew the Beetles were so prophetic? And so I sit and wonder how much pain and heartache that the world is going through right now, and I realize that everything has a reason. We are in the throws of change right now. Arjuna Ardagh, author of The Translucent Revolution, refers to it as the “death throws of the collective unconscious.” The reality of humankind is shifting and with that shift comes the struggle to survive of what was, kicking and screaming against the new paradigm that will evolve from it. The what will be. Everything is perfect and exactly as it should be.
I am reminded by my own difficult and dark times when the shifts were happening upon and within me on my own journey to a higher awareness. And in fact, things continue to shift further and more deeply into place even today. However, in the beginning it was very tough because the “I” in me was resistant to the letting the true me come forth into a place of full awareness and understanding. These darkest of times, the “dark night of the soul” moments were a proving ground to Source as to how badly I wanted to be free of the bonds I had allowed, even created, for myself. How badly did I want to be free?
What I learned most profoundly was the power of ALLOWING. It was when I let go of resistance to what what was (is) in my life and the fears of what I thought I wanted and or needed from God. It was when I ALLOWED the true essence of myself to come forth in it’s own way, that the flood gates of all that is pure and perfect were (are) able to come through. Not TO, but THROUGH me.
I know that there is a higher knowing at work in the world today. A higher Source of understanding that extends far beyond the confines of me on this level of existence, this world, this galaxy and even this universe. As a whole, we as a species believe that we can hold the strings and control the outcome equally as well with the very limited knowledge we possess. But there are those of us who look at the outcome of certain decisions and actions we have made as a collective on the Earth and know that the pendulum will come to shift the other way, and with even greater speed. And in fact, it has already begun. We can see it for the world only when we have seen it for ourselves individually.
So, as I sit and listen to the dooms day predictions of the mass consciousness around me, I sit quietly… waiting for the pause. The still, small breath in between that gives me the answers that all is not lost. And in between those I hold the conversations with Source and other enlightened beings. For fear lies only within the heart of ego, and it is important that we keep our own in check with the help of others in the awakened fields.
It is what it is. And what will be will be. I know these things to be true. And as the children of Earth and God (which in and of themselves are the same) come closer together, the realization of something much bigger, deeper, greater, sweeter, cleaner, neater, funner, happier… simply better will begin to emerge.
The acceleration is happening of the new arising, but the old still has its momentum and even that seems to accelerate. We are coming to the end of an evolutionary cycle for humanity, and the closer you get to the end of a cycle, the more dysfunctional that way of being becomes. There is nothing wrong with it, but all a part of how it should be. When you close a cycle, it doesn’t work anymore.” -Eckhart Tolle
But just as the birthing pains must accompany the birth, we are to see and feel the pains of the birth of the next great awakening. And in fact, we are already well into labor. Breath, Sally. Breath. There will be trying times ahead. I challenge you to see and welcome them as great signals for change. It IS the end of the world as we know it… and to me that’s perfectly fine.
I am excited to be on this journey with you. Namaste.
