Believe me, it wasn’t that long ago that I was among those that thought being “conscious” just meant I didn’t have a concussion.”
I read and hear that these are “tough” economic times. I guess some people believe this is true. I also know many, who like me, believe we are simply in the midst of a historical opportunity perfectly set up to support the evolution of our consciousness through the dissolving of beliefs that many, on a global scale, had become too comfortable with.
I personally have been on a 5 year personal adventure that has awakened my consciousness. Yes, I know, there is a lot of buzz around the subject of “consciousness.” What fascinates me is how few people truly understand what this means. Believe me, it wasn’t that long ago that I was among those that thought being conscious just meant I didn’t have a concussion.
I can remember, a few years ago, having some lively discussions with several friends I considered to be very smart. Yet each time I shared my views on consciousness, they would become very defensive. They seemed to think I was crazy for thinking “outside the box” they had known me to be in, before I began to awaken my consciousness. As I began to recognized my consciousness was evolving, I began to search folks who understood my new mind-set.
Let’s just say there weren’t many folks who “got” me. So my cherished friends became the many books I read. My closest confidants became my precious teachers. From Jesus,to Buddha, to Lao Tzu, the Apostle Thomas, Eckhart Tolle, Don Miguel Ruiz, Viktor Frankl, and Ernest Holmes, just to name a few.
Then something magical happened. The Secret became a popular main stream phenomenon. Then Oprah hosted Eckhart Tolle….now the world was abuzz with words that had precious meaning to me: ego, consciousness, awakening, enlightenment, spirituality, presence, source….etc. I was overjoyed. I’m not alone any more!
Bottom line, being conscious is simply knowing, with every cell in my body, every breath I take, every heart beat I experience, that there is so much more to know than what I think I know.
What is taking place on a global scale, for which I am so grateful, is a conversation that makes it possible for people who have awakened to help others shift their consciousness. When I awakened to the magnitude of what is possible by being conscious, I simply couldn’t keep it to myself. Like many before me, I had to share what transformed my life. Not doing so would be tantamount to knowing the cure for cancer and not telling anyone about it. Keeping what I know about consciousness a secret would be the ultimate crime against humanity for me.
Bottom line, being conscious is simply knowing, with every cell in my body, every breath I take, every heart beat I experience, that there is so much more to know than what I think I know. It’s waking up to a vast universe of knowledge that is sourced from a field of intelligence which created everything there is, and does so through unconditional love for the purpose of supporting, evolving and entertaining its creation.
Being conscious is an inner knowing we are all One People. Look around, everyone has bodies that all function pretty much the same. We all have the same innate feelings and desires. We all want to be happy. We all want to be safe. We all desire what is best for our selves and our loved ones. Yet the thing that separates us into us vs. them is simply the thoughts we think. Being unconscious is knowing only what you know and believing that to be the only truth there is. Not just for yourself, but for everyone else. So we hurt other’s feelings, or worst yet, we kill them in the name of our limited sense of truth.
Being conscious is an inner knowing we share One World. This has been proven scientifically and is becoming a more main stream conversation. The particles we are made of are found in every life form. It’s even found in asteroids that have entered our earth to bring us that bit of knowledge. Other planets we’ve visited also confirm this information. You need not be an Einstein to search the web and discover knowledge that supports we are more alike than we are different.
Being conscious is recognizing there is but One Power. Call it what you will. Just as there are different cultures, different languages, different hair styles, eye color, skin tones, ice cream flavors, so too there are different names for the source of omnipotent power each and everyone of us knows exists. I don’t know a single person, regardless of their religious beliefs, who doesn’t acknowledge that there is a power greater than they are that sourced all of life. Yet, many defend their limited beliefs of that power. Everyone defends what they know. How wild is that? If we opened to the possibility that each person only knows what they’ve learned, I believe that would allow us to have non-judgmental conversations so we could “hear” what the other is saying without needing to make them wrong. Isn’t that why we send our kids to school? To learn what the teachers know? And we send them for years to dozens of teachers. And that’s just the beginning of the learning process!
In the heart of every man, woman and child exists an inner knowing that can set us all free from judgments and fears. That inner knowing is encapsulated, like a fortune in a cookie, by the limiting beliefs we defend and hold to be the only truth there is. When you “crack open” the cookie, the fortune is easy to retrieve. The secret to awakening our consciousness is knowing and utilizing the skills necessary to “crack open” the shell that contains our fortune….our life purpose, our personal power.
You see, we are all defending the shell, the cookie, at the high cost of never discovering the fortune that lies within it. We die and kill for the cookie…..we die and kill for the need to defend our limited truth, when all we were created for was to awaken to the fact we are all One People, One World, One Power.
When you know this to be your truth, my friends, then you will know you’ve awakened your consciousness. Any judgment to the contrary only means you just know what you know….and that’s perfectly good too. As a conscious person, I don’t’ judge anothers belief.
Awakening your consciousness is rewarded by a sense of love and peace that surpassed all understanding. It is an indescribable sense of inner power. It is truly creating heaven on earth. Yet this reward is bestowed only on those who awaken. Like winning the gold at the Olympics, that “feeling” is only known to those who actually win the gold. Everybody else only “thinks” they know what it’s like.
